I agree Genesis - sure does look like the www.ssuba.com. From whois, they registered in June '03. Just a 1 year reg - not too confident I would say

Looks fun, but requires a compressed tank, so not so sure how you would convince someone it is better than snuba. Has to be delivering air at ambient, so the only thing I can think of would be a time factor. However, looks more geared towards rec than something like mining, where hookas are popular.

Cool tech, but is it needed?

Well maybe not, but it doesn't need a gas engine (or electric power), which is a fairly significant safety improvement and, if the price is right, it might fly.

Duration could be really good since the only gas required from the tank is make-up (for decents, etc) much like a rebreather, plus inefficiencies in the exchange system. Might get 10x normal duration out of an AL80, for example.....

My biggest concern would be drag of the hoses. They've gotta be reasonably-large-bore, which is going to be pretty un-good when it comes to that factor. That may kill it - but we'll see. I bet its popular if it works well down in the Keys though for lobster hunting around the shallow reefs.

Can you reference the page you pulled this from? I spent awhile looking at the website, but couldn't find those pictures anywhere. Getting a translation of any accompanying text would be easy enough.

Looiks like somthing I would not buy that's for sure. Now as for the girl.... nope, wife would object to that too.

looks like a surface supplied air indeed and the contraption on her chest would be a manual pump. so you may be able to be supplied with air at some depth with pressure supplied by the hand pump instead of making an effort to suck air from the surface.

the manual pump allows the (modified) snuba to go deeper with less effort on the inhale as the pump would supply the pressure needed to "suck" air from the surface.

just my assessment

So I thought I'd send off a question to the board owners and see if they could tell us what the thing is. Here's what I sent...

Извините за плохой российский перевод.

Мы натолкнулись на некоторые картины на вашем участке

Will this get us the response we want?

My time in Korea took away any illusion I had that I could make out the gist of writings in other languages. Greece nailed the lid on.

You're on your own. :)

Seriously, the site people might not know what it is either, but they may be able to hook you up with whoever put the pictures up.

Mark,

I want that Russian WP prog... which are you using? I can't believe I did not find out that you spoke Russian while in Key Largo. Unfortunately, I have forgotten more than I remember, and I never knew the "diving lingo".

But yes, your Russian is not near as bad as your first line would have them think. :D
