They use the Suunto RGBM. According to Bruce Weinke's book "Reduced Gradient Bubble Model in Depth", The Suunto computers are an RGBM algorithm. RGBM is an expansion of the Haldane model and I belive it has Buhlmann wrapped up into its package. Although, I have read different explanations from other divers here on the forum.

You may also want to take a look at, "Physics, Physiology, and Decompression Theory for the Technical and Commercial Diver", by Bruce Winke. Not a bad read....

I have Basic Decompression Theory book but not this one. Thanks for the recomendation to my library. One can never have too many books on this subject.

Even though the math can give me a headache. The guy really is brilliant.

I have the Aeris elite and it has served me well. I bought mine from Larry at ScubaToys. It was part of a deal I could not refuse.

Is the Versa Pro as compact as it looks? Seems like the pressure gauge and computer might make it "thick". Doesn't look like it, but sometimes the pics make you see what they want you to. Comments on those that have it? ..... Jo

The VersaPro is a little thicker than most other consoles, since the spg and computer are back to back. But that thickness is not really an issue at all. With a compass, the unit is much shorter than most others, which in my opinion is a good advantage and far outweighs the negatives of the additional thickness.

What are some thoughts on wrist computers? I have seen them, but don't know anything about them.

I have never used one, but would really like to have an air integrated wrist comp. That will be my next computer purchase. Right now, I have a VersaPro and an Atmos ai. I mostly use the Atmos ai, since it is air integrated. I also use a Citizen HyperAqualand watch as a backup for depth and dive time. I find myself looking at my watch more than the computer just because it's more convenient. If I could justify an air integrated wrist computer right now, I would not hesitate.

Here is my computer dummy coming out...... Isn't your Versa Pro air integrated? What exactly do you mean by that?

Air integrated means that the computer monitors air pressure in tank and air consumption rate and calculates remaining air time. All this will be digitally displayed on the computer, as opposed to having an analog pressure gauge that just shows how much air pressure is left in the tank.

The Versapro is not air integrated. It has an analog pressure gauge, but does not do any air calculations.

OHHH! That is pretty cool. Is the price different much for AI?
