Never owned a computer. Recently got Air Enriched Cert. Thinking about buying a computer but want one that has Nitrox too. What are the best types and where are the cheapest prices? I'm a computer dummy, so talk slooowww. :jump3: ....... Jo

I use the REACT PRO. The instrument is extremely compact, reads air, NITROX. However, like all computers you will have to study the 50 page manual and PRACTICE using it while doing dry runs. Fortunately, once it is set up with your preferences it is pretty routine to use wet. The nicest feature is the small graphic which tracks the nitrogen uptake (deco status) and can be read and interpreted at a glance. Once the bar graph enters the yellow zone it is time to ascend. Simple. I'm a fanatic about streamlining and have been since before it became cool. I removed the REACT from its bulky console and inserted it into an ancient USD compact console complete with original miniature USD pressure gauge. It's a tight fit though.

Where did you get it?

I really like my Aeris Atmos II, I got it at Scubatoys when they were $100 bucks cheaper than now. Simple, wrist mounted, cheap battery, "liberal" algorithm - but you can make it more conservative. Talk to Larry.

I'm not convinced that waiting for your nitrogen load to hit a certain level is a determinant on when to start our ascent. I think I'd rather be confirming my plan, but that's another thread(s).

OTOH, I saw an interesting dive site - Bikini Atoll, and they specified the dive computers allowable - they do deco diving - but it sounded tempting. Anyway, long story short - looking at the website there is an interesting box for $500 that is on their list, a slick looking wristwatch size thingy a Dive Rite NiTek-plus. Has anyone else used it? For a less than $200 more, you get a two-mix box if you're thinking about A) going technical, B) Heading for Bikini

Cheers - and welcome to nitrox!!

Use Atmos II as a backup--Excellent machine--good display, user friendly.

You can get a 2 mix TUSA IQ-700 from Scubatoys for less than a Dive Rite Nitek Plus or a DR NiTek Duo - with a better warranty (2 year instead of 1 year) too.
