This morning, while preparing for a dive, I hooked up my tank and my Tx40 second began freeflowing. I thought it was some grit or something in the second stage. Nothing there. So I removed it from the first stage and re-pressurized the regulator. To my surprise the TX100 second began freeflowing which indicates it's a first stage problem instead of a second. This is a 1 year old reg with only about 20 dives on it. It was in the house and warm until last night when I put it in the car. Temperatures didn't srop below freezing last night and the reg was dry so I am not inclined to think the freeflow was due to ice. And since it occured instantly upon pressurization I don't think it was because of condensation.
I'll take the reg in for servicing when I return from my Red Sea trip. What I'd like to know are the possible reasons for a first stage freeflow under the conditions I outlined.
Thanks
Phil
