Hey friends

After much deliberation I landed on the Atomic M1 for my reg (I dive cold water and warm so I wanted a good all around reg). I noticed that when setting it up with the HP ports oriented on top, the hose to the second stage doesn't have room and hits the tank so I've been having to orient it at an angle, or upside down which creates a snag hazard.

Am I missing something? Or is this how it was designed? Picture of the reg attached upside down for reference.

I have mine set so it is pointing down, 180 degrees opposite to what you have it in the picture, at an angle so the hose doesn't hit the tank. Also note, the wider area between the LP ports on the rotating turret should be facing the back of your head/neck for better hose connection.

Thanks for the picture! When I start diving doubles I'll probably look into a set up like that.

No, I use this for single tank diving. The primary second state is on a 120cm long hose that comes from under the right arm, and the alternate (both are the same SS) is on a 61cm hose attached to a bungee necklace around the neck.

Thank you for picture! Aren't you worried about damaging the hose with that angle? It looks super clean.
If you use the correct angle, this arrangement does not strain any of the hoses. Maybe it works better with some tanks and BCDs than others, but in my set up the octo hose going downwards does not hit anything. If you are doing this and putting any bends on it, perhaps we need better pictures for clarification.
