I would just dry tumble the 1/2" tanks and acid clean after. It might be possible to put the tank in the rinse stand with the tumbling media still inside and hot rinse and dry then get the media out.
 
It is mush easier to use a tank whip and a drill. A whip will take care of about 98% of all rust conditions that people seem to feel need to be tumbled out. I wash with a good cleaner and rinse 2 times each with about a quart of hot water and then do a 100% fill with hot water. The tank should now be painful to touch now without gloves on, drain and blow dry with air from a tank. It has never taken more than 30 seconds to dry any tank from a 15 foot suit bottle up to a 130 steel.
