Maybe one of the mods could split this thread off and put it somewhere it would get more visibility.

I'll bet there are a few airline folks around here somewhere.

 It seems appropriate in the General Travel Section. What part would you like split? Why not just pose that seperate thread?

General travel is fine, and splitting it would be good too, I just didn't want to lose the part I started about JetBlue.

I don't see any way for me to split a thread, though.

Oh, ok - PM a Moderator about split that section off, or open a new thread about the experience I suppose. :hmmm:

Here is one for you.. On my flight from Houston to Roatan the girl across the isle from me before we even left the gate pulls out a lighter and burns some string. She was making braclets and needed to burn the hemp to cut it. She was shocked when a couple of us told her she was not allowed to have the lighter and needed to put it away. The stinch was unreal and not one of the flight crew noticed it.

Wow! Not allowing lighters still strikes me as dumb, but using them onboard - dumber yet.

I don't remember details about the crew, but the FAs on international flights are often the most experienced in the industry. They probably were quite aware, but not wanting to alarm anyone - just quietly kept an eye out. If she didn't do it again, nothing to catch.

If she had done it again, I hope you would have reported it to the FAs. Fire on a plane is a major threat. :11:
