Rage once bubbled...

Conor - 4 bodies + minimal kit *should* just about fit. (Assuming that noone else is intending to bring; drybags, cylinders, kitchen sinks..).

But I couldn't possibly dive without my delayed surface mounting kitchen sink!!

I guess I'll just have to cancel the post dive barbeque if I can't bring mine with me.

So minimal kit ? I guess you mean something like
wetsuit, boots & hood
BCD
puta
fins
mask

If so then cool, as that was exactly what I was planning on bringing, only catch is that the dive bag it'll be in is on the surprisingly large side.

With a fairly large boot. Ain't no estate but it can haul a fair bit of kit. (Tell you about the DIY / B&Q stories another time...). Clootie, re: kitchen sinks, I think Wraysbury may already have one in there... If not you can borrow mine. :D

Thats pretty much what I guessed you'd be bringing Conor. You guys bringing soft or rigid cases, (ala wheelie suitcase stylie)?

I'm thinking worst case; 2 in front, with 1 tank / small bag in front. 2 in back, with 1 hard case (sits 3). + boot space. Oh, and I got bungees.

I will check my 'guestimate' in 30 mins as we've a pool session arranged.

Won't matter what shape / size bags are...

So, confirm - who am I expecting to pickup @ Finsbury Park? Conor? Clootie?

Who needs to hire what kit? I'm plannnig on calling up to reserve the essentials i.e. regs, tanks, suits for anyone who needs 'em.

Thanks for sorting this out Rage. I'll be able to get to Finsbury park, the trains take about an hour and run every 30 mins, so if you could let me know what time you want to be leaving finsbury park then I should be able to get there (although I must confess to not being a morning person).

I'll probably bring my aqualung bag, which is quite large and has a rigid base and back, but if there is an issue with space I can try and squeeze the gear into a rucksack.

Gear wise I'll need tank(s), weights (have to figue out how much) and a weight belt. Although if they rent reels/SMBS etc then getting a couple extra to play with would probably be worthwhile. How many dives do you want to do ?

As for suits I'll bring my 5mm (which should be ok if the water is 21C as reported), but I'll probably bring a shorty to go over just in case. I would love to try out a drysuit, but if we don't have any instructor types with us I don't know if this would be a good idea.

Cheers

Conor

Rage, BTW I can get to New Southgate, but it would mean waiting at FP for 30 mins and then taking a 6 min train journey.

Rage

I'll need tanks, weights, and some kind of drysuit - if they have a 5mm jacket only, or a shorty, that would be ideal so I can bring my 3mm suit and wear the combo, but otherwise I'll need to see what they have when I get there I guess.

Having checked out transport, I may get the train to Wraysbury - there's one an hour from Clapham, and if I get that, it should take only 5-10 minutes longer than getting to Finsbury Park, so would save me travel time overall. Which appeals, as I too am not a morning person... :zzzs: :tired: except for jumping in to dive at 7.30 on holidays, but that doesn't count!

If I do that, I'd be at Wraysbury station at roughly 9.10, 10.10 or 11.10 - let me know which suits. (or even 8.10, but see previous paragraph).

I guess arrival time depends on how many dives we are doing, the depth at Wraysbury means we don't need to worry about SI's. So I guess the question is 'is Rage or his buddy a morning person ?'

Clootie, have you done any drysuit training or are you willing to just give it a go ? If not I believe Wraysbury have semi drys (http://www.wraysbury.ws/facilitiesequip.html) as well as dry suits to rent.

If you are going to try a dry then I might to.

Conor

Just placed a call to Wraysbury. Semi's *I am told* should not be a problem, even for Cloots. Apparently they have stopped hiring out drys.

However if you are 5'8 - 5'9 stocky build, and desperately want to try dry, you may be in luck...

We have so much in common already... :tired: Mr +1 (Hakan) isn't my buddy (at least not yet) and is barely just OW. I am hoping that regular 'buddy' can also make it to help out.

I'll leave the meeting time to you Conor seeing as you are up and about the earliest. However I would suggest 09:00ish @ Finsbury, 10:00ish Wraysbury. Sound sensible? I can see alot of time being spent on land sorting out kit, etc, but we should still have 7 hours to play with. (Out of water 17:00).

Would me arriving at 9:22 be too late ? That would mean getting a train from Cambridge at 8:30, leaving home just after 8.

The previous one would be arriving at 9:10 but leaving Cambridge at 7:54 so leaving home at 7:30, which I am fine to do but may be hungover for the day. to get there before 9 I would have to leave home at about 7 (which is ouch).
