Anyone hear of using tribolube 19 for o-rings when doing VIP's? A friend had a tube left over from his rebreather days and gave it to me. I have been using christo-lube mcg 111.

If you're talking about the tank neck o-ring, it's usually not lubricated. It works as a crush seal. Lubricating the threads with tribolube would work fine.

I assume your friend is ex-military. This is mainly where you would find Tribolube 19 for quite some time. It is fine for your application and no worries about a shelf life or expiration date problem. We have introduced Tribolube 71 to the scuba industry as the replacement to MCG111. Tribolube 71 and Tribolube 19 are both oxygen compatible, but we recomend Tribolube 71 for all applications in scuba from static to dynamic and open to closed circuit systems. The Tribolube 71 also is qualified to types I,II and III of the MIL PRF 27617 o2 compatibility specification testing. Tribolube 19 is qualified to type I.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to send you any data you need.
