That's NOT me on the picture btw and for the record, it's not safe to lie in the sun after a deep dive close to deco limit when you have a little extra weight :D

Missdirected:
Hheheheh, maybe that is why the guys at the office don't dive with you.

We have already and ALL the men and women divers in my office have mesh bags. hehe hehe hehe hehe heheh hehe

Is it a sales outlet for mesh bags?

:rofl2:

Uh hum, okay back on topic. Sorry PF but you have to admit that was seriously funny.

Anyway, I try and not judge people. I also try and keep in mind people are learning and change. Perhaps if the guys in the office kept this in mind you may be able allowed to dive with them again. Hopefully, they won't have the same closemindedness as many people I have encountered. Or the same you are showing when you judge someone by their luggage. Just a thought. I'm off it is a beautifully stunning day here in FL.

I would have to say that it depends a lot on the boat. I've been diving for over 30 years and started off with minimal gear and a mesh shoulder bag. I moved from that to a larger bag that had shoulder straps and could be worn like a backpack. Last year we were a bit close on our flights and had to run through the airport like crazy people with those huge bags on our back. After that trip we invested in the same sized bags but with wheels.

We use a liveaboard that has adequate space under the beds for our bags once they are emptied out. We have small mesh bags that we use to drag our gear down to the dive deck..

I'm pretty observant and considerate and I've never once felt like those bags were in the way or compromised others space on the boat.

Anyway ...just wanted to throw out a slightly different perpective to balance out the thread.

What you describe is totally fine and very considerate.

I really hate mesh bags. Too hard getting your stuff in and out.

If all your big bags are full, another option is to put overflow in buddy's bag.

My experience is that people with a mesh bag have a "gear explosion" and have to unpack all of their gear just to get to the piece that they need. All of their gear is spread out in the aisles and on the seats. I think that is inconsiderate.

People with the big bags (in my experience), open the bag and get the item(s) that they need. Then they get the next piece. All of their gear is on the tank or in the bag, no "gear explosion" here. I think that is considerate.

With a big bag or mesh bag you have considerate and inconsiderate people.
