I'm coming in on a cruise and jumping ship to stay at Fiesta Americana. Anyone know if it is near where the cruise ships docks? Would a taxi be reasonable to Fiesta Americana?

thanks

Your only two options are a taxi which will probably run you about $10 to $15 or rent a car. You sure can't walk from either of the cruise ships piers to FA.

A taxi should be no problem.

Also, I don't think it will cost you much. It should be $6 or less, since when I stayed at FA, it cost us $6 for a taxi ride between FA and the city.

Just spent a week at Fiesta Americana last month. The cost for a taxi from there to town was $8.00. Should be the same from either of the Cruise ship piers. There will probably be about 200 taxi's waiting at the pier for you to arrive so you shouln't have a problem catching one.

We had a great time at Fiesta Americana, have fun!!!

Just out of curiosity...have you already prearranged with the ship to get off and stay here?

The reason I ask is that i have done that several times over the past few years as a way to bring more luggage down so I could bring stuff for my house...no luggage restrictions on a cruise... :crafty: I always had to prearrange it with the pursar and customs and immigration has to be contacted to issue you a tourist card and check your bags. Without the tourist card entering the country, you will have trouble leaving the country and will have to pay a pretty steep fine upon leaving. Additionally, the security on the ship will stop you if you are taking a bunch of luggage off without proper papers.

Just in case you were unaware of these procedures, I wanted to save you some headaches.

Taxi to fiesta Americana is really the only way. Plan on $6 to $10 if coming from Puerta mays or International Pier, and about $10 to $12 from Punta Langosta.

Have a great vacation!

We took the taxi between town and Fiesta Americana almost every day last week. $6.00 each way was the posted price. The Cruise ship pier is much closer. It shouldn't cost more than $4.00 each way.

I talked to carnival and they only mentioned to let the pursar know when I boarded. What does it take to get a tourist card?
thanks

When you board, go to the pursar's desk and tell them you will be disembarking in Cozumel. They will give you the Mexican immigration forms to fill out and will keep your passport until you get off the ship. They will probably ask that you allow everyone else to get off the ship before you disembark...they don't like to draw attention to people getting off for good. It is thier responsibility to contact immigration to let them know you will be entering the country. before you get off the ship, you'll have to present your documents to the immigration official who should be on the ship. That's really it. The pursar should tell you eactly what you'll need to do.

have fuun!

HHHH, try to get something in writing from Carnival that acknowledges they know you will be disembarking and remaining in Cozumel. Don't trust the word of a customer service rep over the phone. And double check when you check in for your cruise that they've noted your departure in Coz. Your cruise documents probably have a statement in the terms & conditions about you acknowledging that you must complete the voyage embarking and disembarking in a US Port, and not doing so can result in hefty fines and penalties from US Customs and various other govt agencies. Christi is correct that they need to have customs & immigration in Coz notified that you are staying in Coz, and they also need to note that on the manifest provided to US Customs & Immigration. If they can't account for all the passengers that left the US, it holds up the whole ship and can create a real problem.

Have a great cruise and a fun time in Cozumel!

It doesn't matter that the cruise dock is closer to FA, cruise passengers have $, they get to pay more.
