I just bought a new Transpac II and dove last weekend for the first time with 2x4lbs trim weights and 18lbs on a belt (drysuit). It shifted around all the time and I was almost afraid to could loose it, although it was properly secured at the surface, but underwater it just barely hung above my hips and felt very uncomfortable. All in all, I am not a fan of the belt.

I hooked up my trim weights on both sides to the retainer where the shoulder straps are attached. Is there any other way to attach the trim weights?

As for the weight belt, I want to switch to the integrated weight pockets. I would love to use the Clipper pockets, instead of the bulky weight integrated, but they only hold about 5lbs each. Are there any other 3rd party recommendations?

Where do you keep your weight on the Transpac?

Another thing is that I dove with an AL80. How much do you think could a steel tank reduce my weight?

Thanks ;)

I've got a TPII but still use the belt. And I've just bought a dry suit but only tried it in a swimming pool. Although it fell a bit it continued secured and wasn't uncomfortable. I'm going to the sea in December...
From what I've heard from ppl that have the integrated weight they find it very comfortable in water and reliable.

I use the TP II with integrated pockets...10 lbs in each pocket X 2, then 8 lbs on a belt (when drysuit diving).

I use two fewer lbs on the belt when wetsuit diving in my 7mm with a hooded vest.

The integrated pockets are really secure, and don't move at all when I'm diving, since they are secured on the waist strap and by the shoulder harness.

When I dive my tp I use the inside D-rings (the little one-inchers down the soft backplate) to hold the trim weights. The integrated weight pockets are nice, though a little bulky when loaded with 28-30 lbs for drysuit diving.

A steel tank, depending on size, will allow you to drop 4-8 lbs. Another option is to get a SS plate and utilize your transpac straps to make a "transplate," I was originally drawn to that option to remove as much weight as poss from the pockets. They provide an ok comfort level with 25-28 lbs in them, but much more comfortable with 14-16 lbs.

Great suggestions! Thank you! I am going to clip the 2x4lbs trim weights on the upper mini d-rings and just ordered the weight integrated pockets to hold another 2x9lbs, which brings me up to 26lbs.

18lbs should be more than enough to get me back up (almost too much with an empty AL). I will definitely consider the SS plate to get another few pounds off the pockets.

I am just not a fan of the belt at all. I am always afraid of losing it and it feels really uncomfortable around the hips. But I guess that is personal preference.
