Tape and cranking down on fittings is an art. Not enough tape or crank and you'll get leaks, to much of either can crack the fitting.

I'm just saying @Compressor be careful. A good rule of thumb is 1-3 threads sticking out. I'd say 95% of the time I see 3.

You'll be fine, just something to keep in the back of your mind, my cracked fitting was a mix of cranking and then vibration from the compressor.

I built my hose with a tank filler on one end a quick connect on the other. I have a quick connect on my compressor outlet a a quick connect on another tank fill so it serves either as a fill whip or transfill hose.

For the record a JIC flare is 37 degrees, an SAE is 45 degrees. Either will screw on the other but not seal correctly.

I agree, to be proper they should not be mixed,

In practice they will seal, on each other,

Also there is a few extra SAE sizes that are not normal JIC sizes, it can mess with you, until you get out the vernier,,,
