I find it interesting that some people still weigh in on threads like this with the express intent of slamming On Line Retailers (is there a three letter acronym for that?) with scare tactics. The reason it is amusing is that invariably, the attack has the opposite effect as the truth comes out and soon the thread ends up being a recommendation for buying on line. Most of the perpetrators have learned this and stopped shooting themselves in the foot; others will take a while to learn.

I (I) can ensure my gear works.

Yes, I have bought a Titan LX from Leisure Pro. I bought one from Leisure Pro for 269 and a second one from an ebay store for just over 200, both new, both with full warranty cards, both complete with all papers and boxes etc. Both work just fine.

Any AL dealer anywhere will service AL regulators.

Seriously, anyone with a wit about them can install an spg, and octo second and LP inflator hose.( I have canged out hoses and gauges back and forth to various regs ,What i have not done is first stage service or tried to Adjust regs second stage ) This is kinda somewhere between turning a wood screw in a door hinge and tying a rollerskate shoelace. If that is worth over something in the range of 400 dollars savings then I guess so. I work to hard for my money to be ripped by full msrp. If I am going to give away money I have relatives and friends who need it more.

My lds is the internet. If a person were not confident then I understand, you have to feel good about what you do. I don't feel good about leaving hundreds on the table.( niether do i but i want to know if i am getting a safe reg and that it is set at factory specs, some on the board have said that liesure pro will check This out before sending it to you if you ask them)

Yes, I service most of my own gear but there should not be a problem getting most gear serviced.

Thanks alot for your Response:D,the reason i am considering the Titan reg is because of your positive Imput on the Titan LX
One more Question for Nemrod,Would you get the LX Supreme or is it a waste of money since every thing but the Spring is sealed below diaphram anyway?
I dont know if i will ever Dive Below ice, but i do dive in mountain lakes (water temp in 30 s)

Well I dive with a regular Legend in tropical waters (26C average) and my octopus has an icicle logo on it, go figure. I was looking at the Titan at the moment of purchase but when I realized that I might go into more advanced diving in the future I spent the $ on the bling.

The Legend LX Supreme is the EXACT same regulator as the Legend LX. the only differences are cosmetic and IP setting. (The IP is set higher, and cosmetic it has a snowflaske on it and a "silver pimp ring". It also comes with a removable lip that is nice in colder water).

they just market it as a cold water reg because of the lip guard and the lower IP setting reduces free flows.

otherwise it being a different model is purely AL marketing.

with that said, I like the "silver pimp ring" better and the lipguard is nice.

Now... the Titan supreme is different. It includes the environmental seal kit. this isn't needed on the LX Supreme because the LX first stage is "already sealed".

I have personally purchase the Legend LX supreme from LP and have been very happy w/the transaction and performance of the reg. They claim that they will service the reg and give you the same warranty that the AQ dealers will provide.

Either way best of luck.

I suspect that there are alot of ppl affiliated in someway with LDS that do not want to accept that things have changed. And want to put down the online seller I guess. But alot of online seller are LDS in other areas. To me that is funny.

....but i have never serviced a reg.
so i would have to find someone who could.

If you are even remotely considering getting into reg service, I suggest you look hard at other brands and retailers. LP refuses to support their customers with parts, but other online retailers will match LP prices and support their customers with the sale of regulator service kits.

that's not 100% true.... there are alot of other dealers, online and just brick-n-mortar, that won't sell parts kits. Some dealer agreements dont' allow it. Some don't want to do it and some do. Very few regualtors can you find a parts kit that you can "click and add to cart" on. (yes there are a few, but not many).

In another post LP Brett said they are considering selling parts kits. But I've seen no action on that yet. hopefully they will.

I agree the norm is shops will not sell parts to customers. Scubatoys has said they will - but you have to call them. I'm pretty sure Dive Sports is doing the same. My interest is Scubapro parts and my understanding is that company does not want parts sold to customers but does not include any written prohibition in the dealer agreement. An Oceanic dealer I knew told me they were prohibited from selling parts in the dealer agreement but did what was necessary to support good customers. Many dealers use the excuse of liability. That is the excuse LP used when I asked. I was one who asked Brett to look into it when he first joined this board and the answer I got back was "no parts". So my advise is to shop elsewhere if you think you would also like to be able to buy parts.

maybe you're right on with liability.

maybe they don't want to give people the idea of experimenting on their on. I have a feeling that a lot of it is 'pressure' from the manufacturer. I know of one shop that will sell about any reg parts kit it stocks, but only had one brand kit sold online with 'add to cart' option.

with the you have to phone and ask for it option, it keeps it off the internet and out of the obvious problems of manufacturer direct hassling the dive shop.
