I would prefer if i buy a used one that it was not purchased from Liesure pro,Why?
because my LDS will Not Work On It.

What you really need is another LDS, one that appreciates every $$$ you spend with them rather than trying punish you for the $$$ you spend elsewhere.

"Why? because my LDS will Not Work On It."

Your LDS won't work on a piece of safety gear because you purchased it somewhere else? (Because Liesure pro is not a authorized dealer) So he would rather you went diving with an unserviced piece of gear than provide service on something that you didn't purchase from him?

Imagine if you took your car to a dealership to get the breaks fixed and they refused to service it because you purchased the car somewhere else. I would think that if you got into an accident this would be grounds for a lawsuit.

That is total BS. Your LDS is putting his profits first before your safety. Find somebody else to spend your hard earned dollars with.
If you buy from a authorized dealer the LDS has to work on it!

They could sell at what they wanted....Damn, I dont understand some of the other shops!! They need to learn that its better to gain a customer for life vs $100
So what regs are you an Authorized dealer of?:D

No. Even if you buy from the LDS, they don't have to work on it. They are independent shops and, within limits of the law and their dealer agreements, can pretty much do as they chose. But businesses that can turn away sources of profit are either doing awfully well or are awfully stupid. Which one do you think your shop is?

I am not 100% sure but when they agree to handle a a Scuba brand, dont they have to sign an agreement that they will sell and service the brand they sell ? Like Chevy, ford or any other name brand item they rep?

No we do not have to service the brands we sell. In fact, I had to become an authorized dealer before I could attend the training seminar to become an authorized service center.

Now as others have said if your LDS does not do this I would rethink using that LDS. They should service the brands they sell and in most cases they should be able to meet Leisurepro prices in one way or the other. FIND ANOTHER LDS.

So Squidster, I'm not an authorized Aqualung dealer so, using the same logic, if you purchased the regs from me second hand your LDS would refuse to work on them?

This whole thing is just a way for your LDS to protect his margins, which he has every righ to do. The problem is that he is using your safety and scare tactics as a bargaining chip to get you to purchase from him rather than selling you on the VALUE of his shop.

There is alot of discussion on this board about purchasing from your LDS vs the internet so I wont stoke that fire. I will say this though, if your LDS is putting his margins ahead of your safety then he is definitely not looking out for your best interests.

Getting back to part of my Question ,does any one know what i should have to pay for a new Titan lx ?

You might think so but, unfortunately, it is not that way. Scubapro's answer to a shop that refused to perform a "free" CPSC recall fix was to have me send the reg to their service center. The shop, in their defense, said that SP simply did not reimburse them adequately so they only provided the recall mod as part of a complete reg service at the usual fee.
