Sorry but, we have been busy diving.
I really like that you guys are digging my reports. And I have 2 pieces of advice before I forget.
Invest in a pair of neoprene socks. Phil had to stop after every entry somewhere on the surface swim and take off his fins and empty his booties. I chose to keep the sand in my boots and let it scrape my feet to bits. Until I remembered I brought my socks. They have worked wonderfully!! And the other is, on the way back from a site... swim thru the shallows. We didn't go very far in the shallows for a lot of the sites but, today we did and it was simply amazing. Would do that every dive now that we know better.
Anyhoo, yesterday afternoon we went to Yellow Submarine. I heard there was a seahorse at around 5ft. It was a pretty sweet dive. It is where a lot of boats moor up and also where the fishing boats dump fish heads. We went in the afternoon so, I'm assuming that is when they dump them. All of the fishies were picking at them...even the cleaners. During the dive, we ran across an older couple and I started showing them some of the things I was seeing.
They followed us for a bit and then took off. I spent a lot of time with my face in another anenome checking out all the baby shrimpies. Phil saw a Porcupine fish. There were a LOT of christmas trees..especially in the shallows. There was one with crazy colors...like orange body and purple tips. We went back today and I'm just now remembering that one. Wanted to get a picture of it.....darn. Anyhoo, when we finally came up, the couple was pulling out and I got a happy wave goodbye. Guess they knew it was me by the bunny ears!
When we first got here, we got the advice to not go south for a night dive. To stay on the house reefs for night dives. We said Poo to that and went to the Hilma Hooker last night. Now, I've done night dives 150 miles offshore in crap conditions. Bad current and bouncing seas. This was relatively calm with a bit of a difficult entry as it was pretty darn dark. However, it creeped the heck out of me. Had almost no current and no real issues during the dive. But I have to say, I made Phil stay next to me the entire dive because it felt like the boogy man was there. Of course, when I started taking pics of the cup coral I forgot about it. But, as soon as I was done with pics...there was that creeped out feeling again.
For dinner, we went to Casablanca for the pile of meat dinner for 2. It was amazingly huge and I almost fell asleep eating it. We were the last customers to come in at 9:15pm. They close at 10pm. They were very welcoming and the owner even came by to chat us up. I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow.
That is all for yesterday.
