Sorry but, we have been busy diving. :)

I really like that you guys are digging my reports. And I have 2 pieces of advice before I forget.
Invest in a pair of neoprene socks. Phil had to stop after every entry somewhere on the surface swim and take off his fins and empty his booties. I chose to keep the sand in my boots and let it scrape my feet to bits. Until I remembered I brought my socks. They have worked wonderfully!! And the other is, on the way back from a site... swim thru the shallows. We didn't go very far in the shallows for a lot of the sites but, today we did and it was simply amazing. Would do that every dive now that we know better.

Anyhoo, yesterday afternoon we went to Yellow Submarine. I heard there was a seahorse at around 5ft. It was a pretty sweet dive. It is where a lot of boats moor up and also where the fishing boats dump fish heads. We went in the afternoon so, I'm assuming that is when they dump them. All of the fishies were picking at them...even the cleaners. During the dive, we ran across an older couple and I started showing them some of the things I was seeing.
They followed us for a bit and then took off. I spent a lot of time with my face in another anenome checking out all the baby shrimpies. Phil saw a Porcupine fish. There were a LOT of christmas trees..especially in the shallows. There was one with crazy colors...like orange body and purple tips. We went back today and I'm just now remembering that one. Wanted to get a picture of it.....darn. Anyhoo, when we finally came up, the couple was pulling out and I got a happy wave goodbye. Guess they knew it was me by the bunny ears! :)

When we first got here, we got the advice to not go south for a night dive. To stay on the house reefs for night dives. We said Poo to that and went to the Hilma Hooker last night. Now, I've done night dives 150 miles offshore in crap conditions. Bad current and bouncing seas. This was relatively calm with a bit of a difficult entry as it was pretty darn dark. However, it creeped the heck out of me. Had almost no current and no real issues during the dive. But I have to say, I made Phil stay next to me the entire dive because it felt like the boogy man was there. Of course, when I started taking pics of the cup coral I forgot about it. But, as soon as I was done with pics...there was that creeped out feeling again.

For dinner, we went to Casablanca for the pile of meat dinner for 2. It was amazingly huge and I almost fell asleep eating it. We were the last customers to come in at 9:15pm. They close at 10pm. They were very welcoming and the owner even came by to chat us up. I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow.

That is all for yesterday.

Sorry but, we have been busy watching Bonaire Videos :)

I knew it!!!!!!

LOL, glad you're having a great time. It was cold here this week.

Today was the best day ever!! The first dive was at Vista Blue. To be honest I wasn't all that impressed with the reef itself. Didn't see anything too out of the ordinary but, the high point was seeing a turtle and a spotted eagle ray. Not only that but, they hung around and we saw them both a couple of times thru out the dive. About 1/2 way thru the dive, the camera was developing moisture in it. So, after the dive we drove ALL the way back to the camera shop at Dive and Adventure to get a moisture muncher. I had them throw a new battery in as well. I take a lot of pics. :)

The next dives were Aquarius and Angel City. Sorry but, I don't remember much of Aquarius other than we were high fiving that is was awesome. Taking pictures throws me off because, I don't have to remember as much since I have it in the camera. Bummer but, I'm not allowed to open the camera and put the pics on my laptop. Whatever.....anyhoo, back to the dives. For Angel City, we dropped to 45ft and swam right over to the second reef. Went south a bit....dropped to 55ft and came back then, crossed over to the first reef and zig zagged around. The formations are amazing there!! Could NOT get enough. Found a Arrow Crab the size of my hand. Craaazy. Towards the end of the dive, the camera battery died. A little after that, I found this amazing coral head that had so much life in it. It seemed in every nook and cranny, there was something new. Found a tiny crab (the kind with the glowy bug eyes in a tiny shell) in a tiny nook and then in the large nook behind him was a large spotted eel. Would have been a nice shot...the both together. Then, I found my highlight of the entire tripi!! I still can't believe it!! A juvenile trunk fish. A tiny little marble with the tiniest pucker. Spent about 15 minutes just hanging out with him. :) WOW!!! I am such a softie...my heart just swelled...I squealed. :) But wait!! It gets better. We stayed in the shallows for the swim back and for the first 1/2 of the swim there were barracuda sitting on the bottom. Believe it or not....it still gets better.
In about 10 ft of water we ran into 6+ squid. From now on....swim the shallows back to shore.

Headed back to the camera shop for another battery and then, decided to hit yellow submarine again for our evening dive. Here I might add that I let the camera guy know what I missed getting pics of. :) Long story short......swimming along at about 35 ft....Phil spots.....no way! Yes way he did!!! Another Juvie Trunk Fish!!! I then wasted 1/2 the battery trying to get a good shot of his face. And then 1/2 a dive consumed with guilt at wasting the battery. :)
Also went back to the tire right south of the entrance point and the juvie French Angel is still there. Don't think I got a decent pic of him but, those juvies sure are hyper!!!

Came back and finished off our meat pile. Tomorrow morning is the Hilma Hooker dawn dive and then, we are off to see the Donkey Farm!!!!

For anyone who is there or coming this weekend.....Angel City in 40 ft....North of the pin is a large green coral head. That's where I found the Juvie Trunk.

And before I forget......Phil fell asleep in the drivers seat at Angel City. I got some great close ups with his mouth hanging open. :) Can't wait to share them. :)

Glad you are having such a good time Tigg, and yes I sure am enjoying your reports.

Is all the diving is shore dives???

For us it is. There are packages for boat dives but, I've never been a fan of restrictions.
The dive shop we went with cuts your dive short at an hour.

The one boat dive we did was to the smaller island called Klein Bonaire.

It was ok. In heinsight, would rather dive here.

yep hate it when they cut dive times down... know why but still hate it. I'd rather do my own thing... shore dives are great anyway! Sure seems like you've done some great dives. Note the sunnies in the avatar pics?
