chippy:
Would love too, but my holiday allocation is all booked up for this year.....

Keep us posted with how you get on though.

it is a wicked dive, not too good for photo's inside though unless you are first there.

and it is a wide angle lens job.

the steam trains sat on the bottom are cool.

when i was there the current was quite strong and we were flapping like flags in the wind when hanging on the shot line.

a couple of lads at my hotel did it whilst i was there (they were with a different dive operator) and they were raving about it.

A definate "must do" for the next trip!

Well, it seems that it isn't closed then. Good news, maybe I will be visiting in 4 weeks.

Was just wondering if the rumours were true. Thanks for the feeddback.

Closed?
It´s not closed (as has already been said) swedish dive-forums usually have about a thread / week from someone returning from Egypt so I´d know about it if that was the case...

Bad weather?
It´s true that day-boats don´t make it there in bad weather but most live-aboards do...was there late september last year and will go back early april...(just 2 weeks WOOHOOO!!!)

anyways it´s true about currents, they can get pretty bad...the dive-guide on my trip didn´t make it down with the anchor line on the first try and had me swim with him on his second attempt (he was on oxygen for the rest of the day and no dives) but I got a private tour of the thistlegorm and the guide didn´t suffer from his experience so...

Lets hope they never close this wreck! I´m bringing my digital camera this time though, not taking any chances ;-)

I dived it in December 03 and my buddy held on to the wreck as the currents was very very strong and a piece of the wreck just fell apart in his hand. If you dive it be careful. I was dragged horizontal and had to really hold on the line doing my safety stops and then letting go of the line to get back in the boat, well that was another thing. I was that knackered I needed a sleep and didn't go on the 2nd dive, which by then the current had dropped and a dolphin swam around them whilst on their safety stops, sods law.

Just got back...did 3 dives...definitely not closed...current still bad sometimes though...
