Hey,

Im thinking of buying the Mares Proton MR12 as my first reg, along with either the Mares Octopus MV or the Mares Proton Octopus...

I would love to hear your oppinions on all three...

thanks,

The MR12 is a fine warm water work horse. I have a couple with the Proton 2nd that I used for deco regs.

I bought an MR12 Axis (larger than the Proton) as my first reg and I'm completely happy with it. Five years later, I still have it around for when I dive a single tank. I've never used the Proton, but the MR12 itself is a good reg- it breathes just fine.

My girlfriend has a MR12 proton, and it was trying hers that convinced me into buying a V16 proton for myself!!! Very smooth effortless breathing, even in 100 feet of water. And 0 problems with it.

Ditto for my V16 and my proton octo. We are very very happy with these regs!

Good choice in my oppinion!

Can't go wrong with MR12. I have it set up with an Orbiter and love it. I've since went to a set of Mares Abyss regs for my doubles but keep the Orbiter on a pony bottle when diving singles. All the regs breathe great at 30' or 130'.
