Please do not lose any sleep regarding whether I give up underwater photography! I was being sarcastic! (It's a little like irony, but with less iron in it!)

Anyway, if I am not mistaken it is neither a peacock flounder nor a channel flounder, but a leopard flounder, bothus pantherinus.
 
I forget you're across the pond! Peacock Flounders are found in my stomping grounds, the Caribbean.

I rather like Flatfish the best. It's spot on for description. Hell.... they are all flat.
 
I took the shot in PNG. I think you can get peacock flounders there, but certainly not channel flounders.

Looking at my book of fishes I think it is more likely a leopard flounder due to clour and markings...

But, yup, flatfish would be about right!
