well, I guess I never saw any of this stuff where the Thanks button was supposedly abused and so I cant even imagine how a Thanks button could be abused. Seemed like a positive feature and it was useful. For such a thing to be removed because a few people abused it instead of taking care of whatever users specifically seems like an incredibly lame decision to me. One of those times I tell myself I spend too much time on here anyway.

If we find a Thanks hack that is more configurable, then we might revisit it. At this point the suggestions on how to make it work are not available to us.

Interesting, the one's that most likely would be accused of abusing the "Thanks" button have not posted in this thread.

How can a Thanks Button be abused in any real way? Seriously? If people have a hang up over it, well that is a personal problem they need to get over by themselves. by placating these simpletons you are only enabling their issues and making it harder for them to advance as human beings...

Why would you want to add fuel to the fire? I have no problem laying off the thanks feature in the future, it was just a few of us having a good time and I can't believe the huge uproar over nothing. I'm not upset it's gone, if it comes back that's fine too, it is what it is and this is much ado about nothing.

I'd thank this post, but it seems that I can't

Yea... I didn't see the issue with lots of people posting thanks in those threads myself. :idk:

As I read threw this and think about the whole issue I think losing the Thanks button is really a loss. I have found it a nice way to easily let someone know their comments or suggestions were appreciated, without needing to post a reply. It was also somewhat satisfying to see a thanks on one of my own posts, because it meant someone had read it and found it of value.

If a few members wish to play around with the Thanks button, to amuse themselves, why should that cause a problem for others? Often the offended are simply looking for someone or something to be offended by, and any issue will do.

It seems to me that those who would take such light hearted amusement by someone else so seriously, become offended, and then complain enough to force an alteration in everyone else's behaviors, have serious emotional issues. It feels like a form of censorship of the larger group, by a few malcontents, and troublemakers who wish to control the behaviors of others.

Maybe we should start a movement of our own, to replace the Thanks button, and remove the would be thought control police?
