DougDiver:
Thank you for the advice. I haven't been into East Coast Divers in a while, not since the spring (when I first arrived!), but I did like the cat who was managing the store a lot. Actually gets out and dives with his customers. I hear he's not there anymore, though. A lot of my dive buddies up here are really bummed about that.

Ya, since Chuck left I won't step in that store. Again, if you get a chance, check out SS divers of the SS, it's the real deal and rumor is they are going to be filling 100% O2 (boosted) sooner or later.

I use United Divers for service/gas.

I was under the impression that it was illegal to sell > 80% in mass for non-medical applications. Has that changed?

Nope hasnt changed. You still need a script for O2. However, some shops are doing it anyways it seems...

I think it's all gray area, espically after reading Oxyhacker.

In this specific case (w/ South Shore Divers), I have been perscribed O2 by my doctor, and the SSD owner told me that be would fine. I do not know if he will be accepting ADV NITROX cards as well.

...but it takes some effort. I get mine from a medical 02 distributer. I had to speak to several people, show my Dan equipment and dive certifications, and open a customer account with SS number and such but I'm now set. Just think, there are some people who think certifications are meaningless.

Matt are you buying bottles for a home fill station or getting scuba bottles filled at these places? I was thinking about setting my own mini-cascade rig for O2 (to fill 40cu stages) but it's tough without a booster (in terms of getting decent fill in al bottles). That's why I was pleased to hear that SSD may (in the future) be sellingboosted 100% O2 fills.

I have not attempted to get my scuba bottles filled as of yet. Just my Dan 02 bottle for first aid purposes.

I can tell you that I'm getting pretty unhappy with that shop(ECD). I got certified early November through them and I still can't get them to give me a certification card. They lost my first one, and I keep calling them but they can't seem to manage to get organized enough to get another one for me even though I've called them a half dozen times on it. Starting to get very miffed..... :cussing:
