Here is the dictionary definition of the word:

con·nois·seur
connoisseur
con·nois·seur [kònnə súr]
(plural con·nois·seurs)
noun
expert: an expert in an area of the fine or domestic arts, or somebody with discriminating taste in such a specialty

[Early 18th century. < French < connoistre "know" < Latin cognoscere(see cognition)]

I don't see any issue with the word. No worse than the word "sophisticated"
Technically superior.

The implication is that if you don't dive an Atomic, you are an ignorant peasant who couldn't tell a decent reg from a hose pipe with a mouthpiece duct taped to it. Hmmmm, maybe that's where the hostility comes from. LOL
Not even close if you had bothered to understand the meaning of the word:

Considering I majored in Classical Greek and translated books 1 and 24 of The Iliad...it's not for sale.
Oh, is that all (heh, heh, heh)?

No time left for Virgil after the sack of Troy, with some leftover high school Latin?

Because I have eyes. It’s been gone over multiple times in this thread. No regulator gives you performance so great that it deserves a price tag like that.
Yet, they exist. From more than one manufacturer. If they weren’t being purchased, they would be gone from the lineup.

I don’t see the need to rush out and buy the full kit. The second stage is intriguing, though. I could see me getting one to add to my Zeagle FH7 down the line.

One turn yoke is neat, but as I dive DIN, it wouldn’t help. One turn DIN, is just not possible without adding complicated gearing.

What is “out of water performance” and what would it matter when a regulator is used in/under water?
I'm the type to not take my regulator out of my mouth until both feet are on or in something dry. A decent portion of my dives are off a small boat with a....challenging..ladder.

It only took a handful of dives to find out that ending a dive with the feeling of a weak midget strangling me wasn't fun. I just gave up and went back to my S600

@Bigbella as a certain gentleman once said, "...I would let the clever ones learn Latin as an honor, and Greek as a treat."

I was lucky enough to have dessert for four years.

Let’s see Pilot + D series + superior machining and materials - difficulties of tuning = TFX

Sure hope so. I've been dirt poor the past 5 years. Am now in a position where I'm able to save some money, that window will likely close if I end up back in Japan, my goal as I can't live without my boy, maybe just maybe I might treat myself to the second stage.

For me diaphragm 1sts all the way.

I still use the Apeks 1st stage you sold me a year or two ago.
