This was accidentally posted in the wrong forum subsection, initially
My achilles ruptured while walking to the 166 steps down to beach level and dive shop at a resort in St Lucia. Glad it happened before the steps and not anywhere around the boat.

I am 2 weeks post op and looking at a long haul back. I am an older newer diver AOW with 60 dives in the last 2 years at age 59. Played ice hockey for the last 33 years so my legs were in good shape.

I have started to re-gear to keep sane while cooped up at home(left everything there, was wheelchair bound) picked up some used regs and a lightweight bcd
Everything will be lightweight now, LOL

But the biggest concern will be fins due the motion range and strength issues, dont expect to be 100% again

I know its highly personal due to form and strength, and have asked DAN for comments as well but they were limited

Someone out there has to have gone through this and can comment on fin style (split vs standard or hybrid/wing) and how it relates to best style to use after this injury. And if different fins would be better in easy diving ( Grand Cayman/Curacao) vs drift dives in COz when you are trying to fight the current to stop and see something the DM is pointing too.Coz will not be my first trip back after recovery

I dont want to have a pile of expensive hybrid fins to sell on ebay or the forum here
My biggest nightmare is a re-rupture doing a giant stride entry[
