And now for something completely differerent....
Desiring a completely new experience in diving, Mo2vation and I came up with a corker!
1 Dive
1/3 of a Tank of air
3 sites
2 days
Dive One-and-Only-One shall be described in 3 Acts:
Act I: 10/7/05, Malibu, 9:17 PM, 17fsw, 6 min.
Elapsed psi: 3550 - 3100 = 450 psi
Pendulum diving in the fog. Like Foucault's mighty plumb-bob-on-a-string, we swung for 6 minutes.
"Hey, we're over the reef...whoops, now we're over sand...look, it's the reef again..."
Lather, rinse, repeat. Lobster were measured so we could impune their short stature and release them into the wild, wild, murk.
We're outta here..
Act II: 10/8/05, Diver's Cove in Laguna, 8:16 AM, 34fsw, 11 min.
Elapsed psi: 3100 - 2700 = 400 psi
Joined by Rickster, we three charged the rising surf between Hawaii 5-0 sets, dropped into wet smoke and muddy swirling water...(Think: One hand in front of your head, because water that dark has just GOT to be a rock....Nope, just water that dark.)
Uh-Oh...2 out of 3 divers does NOT a dive team make!
Circle 'round, lights up, rotate while singing...
"Are ya' ready kids? I can't hear you!...." (to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot...")
I'm a little lighthouse, tall and bright,
Here is my tower, here is my light.
When the viz gets bad an' buddy's out of sight,
Dive's all over, 'cause this jus' BITES!!!
Act III: 10/8/05, Picnic Reef in Laguna, 8:45AM, 35 fsw, 9 minutes
Elapsed psi: 2700 - 2250 = 450psi
Anyone could go ashore and walk to Picnic Beach. We surface swam it in rising chop, swallowing water, Victory at Sea theme music. Dropped to find gorgonia, rock, and the last of our patience withering away like old seaweed on a hot, dry beach.
9 minutes, 3 of that as a safety stop.
'Bye
Graceful exit (between more Hawaii 5-0 sets, to a beach now officially closed by the snorkle police), and it was time to get the heck out of Dodge.
One dive, 1/3 of a tank, three sites, two days.
Ok, what's next???
Mega-mondo "Thanks" to the only amazing dive partner that could have made all this fun.
Mo2vation Rocks & Rules!!!
Ciao,
