Welcome home everyone. :D

This is a place where people from all over this area, or maybe just visiting, can get with some of us and do some diving. We used to spend a lot of time planning on this thread or discussing past, present, and future diving. However, with the advent of our new club forum, this has become more of place to chat/keep in touch. Know that whatever we may be discussing, you are more than welcome to jump right in. :D

This club has been growing by leaps and bounds, thanks everyone. We have even had a bit of a spin-off with the advent of the Yak/Scuba club :yelclap: Hopefully things continue to grow as they have. I see so many people joining in on dives it is really fantastic - especially seeing the people new to the board feeling comfortable enough to join others on dives :) Eventually/hopefully one day we will have an area for the Spring/Cave divers. :yeahbaby:

Lastly, a couple notes/the fine print

1. Trips: All trips big or small go into the conch calendar thus giving everyone one place to go to see all happenings in the state. If they are interested in a particular gathering they can then go to the appropriate thread. I guess at the end of the year one could call it a memory type of thing. :)

2. Local private boat captains: It is understood you are not a charter company - open to just anyone. If you would like to post a trip for locals in your area you may post it in this forum only, if you so choose. It is understood that you will have gotten to know people through this forum thus having an idea of who will be joining you on your boat.

3. Chat threads that lead to a trip: If a discussion should lead to a planned trip, please ask a mod to either change the title on your thread or start a new thread with the trip details in the title. If it is a small local trip it may stay in this forum. However, if it should become larger, encompassing many areas outside of the Greater Bay and Surrounding Areas, please place it in the Main Trips & Marketplace forum.

4. Reviving old threads: Please do not revive old threads to post about an upcoming trip. The mods consider this spam and do not condone it as it leads to confusion.

Adeeba, deeba, deeba, I believe that is all folks! :bananalama:

This is the last thread, if anyone needs to go back there: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/greater-tampa-bay-area/194891-greater-tampa-bay-area-take-xv.html

:director: Hellooooooooooooo, anyone home?

I need to go spear-fishing :) Anyone else?

this is a horrible pic of me but this is of the 20lb yellowtail grouper I nailed a couple of weeks ago (I also got a 22lb black grouper - my first shot ever with a speargun):

Thats a nice fish there...

Looks like a big boat too...

Nice fish. I need to go spearfishing too but I can't seem to find the time lately. I hate it when work gets in the way of fun time.

Very nice fish!

I do, however, need to make the observation that the fish looks like it went through a LA drive by shooting and someone forgot to run the stringer through the eyes instead of the gills. :):)

Thanks everyone.

Doh, I didn't know you were supposed to go through the eyes (no joke)! See you learn something new everyday. I only know what I learned at that seminar a couple of months back, guess I missed the part about how to string it  As for the drive by, the lil guy was up in a cave like area. He wasn't planning on coming quietly and I certainly wasn't going to give up. So after a long struggle/stand-off and just a tad of thrashing about I won :D After I dragged him out of the cave, I had to take him over to the sand because the spear line was tangled. I ended up grabbing lil sis' surgical shears and cutting the line out of him

Mind you my first shot ever with a gun was the best - that is when I got the 22lb black grouper. :D I think I need to recommend that class to more people.

I'm definitely hooked on spearing though. :14:

Okay I got them backwards. The first pic is of the Black Grouper. This is of the Yellowtail Grouper:
