Now that I actually noticed the LP ad that has been at the top of my screen for lord knows HOW LONG, it has occurred to me that almost certainly their management or some employee of theirs follows posts like this (I mean jeez there are LP postings on a continuous basis here).

This is an excellent venue for them to improve their services. I wonder if a representative is allowed to post... maybe they're reading this as I type it... creepy.

Actually, I'd be really surprised if LP is reading this thread, unless an employee is on SB for reasons other than the business...

Many businesses want to hear comments/complaints fed directly to them.

Their business is probably going quite well, and the error rate is probably within acceptable limits, or they are alternatively already looking into the process problem. My guess...

Leisure Pro Update:

Last week, I placed a medium-sized order with them (six items for me and a friend)
and we got the cheapest delivery possible (I think it's called "ground").

I got the entire shipment four days later. Everything was there. Everything worked.

No problems, no lost stuff, no nothing. And we saved quite a lot of money.

As mentioned before, the actual store sucks in terms of "showroom" display and sales support. People who work there know nothing about diving, since I assume that most (if not all) of them are not divers. Also, they have a very limited selection of DIR -compliant equipment that they sell, so I have stopped going there.

That said, I do have to add that the prices and availability/selection on cheap stuff such as fins or masks are great. You can pickup a pair of Jets cheaper than anywhere else. And a selection/prices of masks is equality good.

They don't sell any Halcyon gear. And are mostly oriented to cater re-creational diver who mostly go to the Caribbean.

Overall, it's a good store if you know what you need and they have it in stock, otherwise you're better of with your LDS when it comes to warranty/service, etc... Also, stay away from their Regulators. If you must get a regulator at a cheaper price than your LDS, then you are better of going to DiveInn or SimplyScuba.

also, forgot to add, don't buy tanks at LP. They won't fill it for you, hence you will end up going to your LDS to have it visually inspected again and then fill it, which is an added cost. If you are like me and and don't like to suport your LDS, at the very least, get a tank from your LDS... for God's sake, at they are the ones who are going to fill it for you for years to come.

Re "DIR-compliant"

Do you have to phrase it like that? "Compliant" sounds like the robots are coming, as in "compliance is mandatory" (robot voice). Maybe "compatible" would be better. Yellow smiley thing.

BTW, I amazed at how good the LDS options are for you in FL, CA, etc. (competition!, it is a good thing) I suspect that the majority who are big proponents of their LDS come from these areas. I don't think that is the case in other parts of the country. I am a fulltime business consultant and have never seen such a poorly managed sector as the LDS are here.

SterlingDiver

You're right - we do have a bigger selection of LDS's here to choose from. But that doesn't make them any better pricewise. After my initial newbie purchases from a LDS, I now buy everything online. I've had great success with LP, as well as Diveinn/Scubastore and Simply Scuba, both in Europe. Never a problem with an order, so I haven't had to return anything.

The only purchases I've made from any retail stores lately have been during really good sales or to use store specific gift certificates. No shop has ever been able to touch LP's pricing even with the shipping figured in.

To the person who initiated the thread. You say you didn't order the bad they sent you. What did your confirmation email state? Do the description and order nummbers match those that are line? There's been many a thread started here by people moaning about an online purchase that when closely examined don't always merit the complaint.

the customer service kind of sucks. Don't take this the wrong way, but they are definitely a weird bunch of guys with attitude that gets in the way of serving the customer.

Do you think anyone of those guys has ever been diving? i dont think so lol stand there long enough and you are bound to see someone walk in and exchange a regulator they just bought there. hmm, I wonder if they just put them back on the shelves given the volume of the online biz they have or do they give it to their one repair guy who comes once a week. do the math and figure :)

I'll never buy from LP again!

I ordered my regs and a computer (big money savers...) and the computer didn't come with a manual. Lots of un-answered emails and run-around calls later (and ~8months) I still have no computermanual , thank goodness I haven't had an equipment problem. The gear all works fine. Granted I got the manual from the internet later from SUUNTO but it's not the point.

Craig.

Been there, done that. I paid the consequences with a dive computer a number of years back. In the long run, I paid dearly for it. Yes, I buy small stuff over the internet, but when it comes to the life support equipment in diving, what I have learned is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
