Examples of prices in UK:
Regs:
Mares Abyss - 325GBP ($488 1.5USD/GBP;$650 2USD/GBP)
Oceanic DX4/D3 - 240GBP (360/480)
SP MK25/S600 - 365GBP (550/730)

BC's:
SP Glide 2000 - 375GBP (560/750)
SeaQuest Pro QD Plus - 359GBP (540/720)

At my LDS's i cant get these at least $100 cheaper than those prices, based on 1.5USD/GBP, so i will stick with my assumption of the UK being a rip-off many of you over here "havent had it so good", that is one of the lesser reasons i moved over here!

those are some scary examples. guess it depends on where you look and what you look for. i bought a suunto stinger in london from an authorized shop for $460. you can presently (with the 1.83 fx rate) get an apeks ds4 for $123, an atx200 for $470, a dui 350 for $1100-1200...
in germany an atx200 will run euro 411, a ds4 euro 109 (these include 17.5% VAT). scubapro regs are also cheap...

If you think a forum on leisure pro would happen here think again.
They genarate revenue for the board owners and there may be some legal problems for the board owners if to many negative threads appear.
So don't look for that in the future.
That's BS - their advertising only appears because of Google Adwords, and the board looks to be serving up Google ads for the keyword scuba. LeisurePro does not advertise on ScubaBoard, Google does.

Those prices included VAT (sales tax) in my figures, in fact you have to ask what the price is without tax most of the time (if you are business), rather than doing mental arithmetic to work out the actual out of pocket price like over here ($6.5 per $100 in Orange County, FL). Those prices were from an LDS, not online store, not saying you cant get cheaper in the UK, that was just the store nearest where i went to college. I am content knowing that i am not paying those prices for gear, and to see a saving over msrp most of the time, even if it doesnt always hit the LP price - the overall price of many things when i buy a package is usually made cheaper due to my cooperation with the LDS and going back to them for other services.

In some way shape or form someone gets paid for the ad. There's no such thing as a free lunch. I have to believe that the owners of the board get compensaited in one way or another. At least I hope they do. I'm not sure but I don't think the old board had any ads on it. I never really paid much attention.
Don't get me wrong. I just think running a forum that might show an advertiser in a bad light might not be the best thing reguarless of who gets paid for the ad.
Voicing your opinion is one thing but the board hi-lighting that opinion may not be in the boards best interest. Thank God I live in a country where free market enterprise rules.

If you're referring to the suggestion that ScubaBoard actually start a forum just about "LeisurePro", I'm sure it was in jest. Naturally ScubaBoard is being paid for displaying the Google ads - just go to Google and read up on Google AdSense - you get paid to show Google ads on your website. But no money would pass directly from LeisurePro to ScubaBoard for this. With a little jiggering of my AdWords settings I could get my own Scubaroo Diving Supply ad to appear at the top of the ScubaBoard page, but it's not worth paying for the extra-clickthroughs from users in countries I don't sell to (like the US).

LeisurePro get too much business through word-of-mouth on this website to ever think about taking legal action against it for a couple of negative posts.

I would rate LeisurePro postings to be among the top 20 for single item topics on this board. You see threads all over the place, and they're HUGE. It's almost like spam.... heck to some of us it IS spam.

And I would say that there just as many positive posts on them as negative ones. In many ways it has become a political forum as well (LDS vs. non-LDS, grey market warranty, etc.), almost as controversial as the DIR/non-DIR feuds, and THEY have a forum. Even oceanography has a forum, and look how hot that thing's kicking...

I'm just wanting to streamline the bulletin board to make it more organized and effficient. The DIR folks should be all over THAT ha ha!

If creating a forum called "LeisurePro" is not permitted/advised for the scubaboard, perhaps a more vague forum could be created in the equipment sections... say "Mail Order Dive Shops?"

here we go again. how many times is this going to be discussed? LP is a huge business with a huge cliental. they are going to make mistakes and they are going to make more mistakes based on percentage alone than a little LDS. everone i know who has ever had a run in with them has been compensated by the company in some way.
