Thanks all! I guess I’ll suck it up again and just bring the 5 mil with hooded vest. Was thinking this is the year for a 7/8 semi dry or dry suit. Wondering what kind of reaction Id get on the boat?

In all my years of diving in the area, I've never seen anyone wearing a dry suit. I think you'd get a lot of raised eyebrows!

Oh I know but I 'd be warm though! I'm usually the guy shaking like a crack head while the others dive in shorts and no shirts sweating on the boat can't wait to get back in and cool off!

I wear a shell drysuit sometimes if I know I will be in the water for extended period of time. Ive seen on occassion divers wearing drysuits here in Cozumel. Lots of guides or seasoned cave divers wear drysuits in cenotes on the mainland.

One nice thing about Cozumel is that the water temp, regardless of topside or time of year, typically ranges from 78-82 deg F. Dive in whatever exposure gear allows you to enjoy yourself for a full week and don't worry about sideways looks.nOne thing that helps is to wear a wool hat and warm layers during the SI.

Another thing that helps is to strip the wetsuit and/or dive skin from the upper part of your body after dives.. Wicking and evaporation can chill me even on a warm day when the boat starts moving, and I don't want to start the second dive already feeling cold. For me, getting dry is a better way to get warm than is wrapping myself in a soon to be damp towel.

I don't think people would really care as they're too busy handling their own business on the boat. I observed a group of three divers from the Pacific Northwest diving in Coz. All wore drysuits; nobody around them batted an eye.

I wear a windproof beanie and windproof jacket during the surface interval as the boat transits to the next dive site. After the final dive, I get out of my wet outfit. The air rushing over the body as the boat speeds back to the marina can really chill the body. It really helps if a marine head is available to totally strip off all the wet stuff and put on dry clothes. If facilities not available, I take off the wetsuit top, towel off as best as possible, and wear the hat and jacket.

I should have added to my post that you should dive in gear that you are comfortable in and that will keep you at a temperature that works for your body. I dive in a 3mm shorty with a rash guard. I've seen people diving in shorts and that's it and others in 7mm full suits with a hood.
