My info's dated (~2 years), but last time I was in Hawaii my sister and I skipped the dive shops altogether and just bought seats from Capt. Joe, he was very cool about it.
Of course you need to know what you're doing but as we are each well over 300 dives and had also dove Portlock and the Corsair several times we were cool with that (he also got us off the boat and into the water first).
