What shop was the DM from?

As far as other dives on Oahu went on Sunday, Sea Lancers (the military dive club on Hickam) had our X-mas dives and party. 2 of the dives were off the Reef Runway. Barely any current with great vis. I was pretty upset however as I chose to sit out the second dive and people saw not only an 8 foot hammerhead but also a manta ray.

Sorry again for your bad dives, but for military on Oahu there is another choice. Remember, the shops on Oahu are in the dive buisness... Sea Lancers are in the buisness of diving (stolen from another Sea Lancer). If you wanna know more about it, please contact me.

OK, Im sold. What do we need to do?

Just stop by the clubhouse on Friday. All you need to do is take 2 open book quizes (didn't need the books), 1 on safety the other so you can fill your own tanks (did I mention free air fills 24 hours a day?)

Make sure you put down my name on the application (gets me a free month:D)

Yes, it was not a day to sit out that second dive. Bill and I were the first in the water and first to the bottom on that dive, and we were the only two to see the Hammerhead. Thank goodness I had my camera since nobody wanted to believe us. It swam past us three times and was absolutely beautiful.

I'd like to hear the other side as well. I have dove from Capt. Joe's Nori-Z quite a few times and with Island Diver's as well. They may be a smaller operation on the Island but compared to the others I have dove they are one of the better ones. I would also be suprised to see 18 on the Nori-Z. I have never seen more then about 15 and that included the divers, DMs, and Capt. Joe.

I posted three versions of the story, how much more do you need?...I didn't count but the boat is rated as a 12 pack and there were way more than that on board.
The biggest problem was the idiot DM. He physical pulled my GF of the line and descended away from the boat not down the line as we were instructed. In just seconds, they were gone from my sight. Also the boat had no water, zero and the juice drinks came from Island divers I found out later. ***? As much as he is charging there should be water on board. There is a cooler marked water. Maybe if he wasen't 1/2 an hour late getting there he could have put some on board.

The dive op was great, but then again I have spent a lot of money there.

Sorry to take the devil's advocate stance on this one, but I dive with the Nori Z quite a bit and just wanted to point out a few minor points. The boat does not run its own charters but sells seats only. And even there, Captain Joe is the cheapest on the island for seats. He added the cooler and snacks a few weeks ago, but all the operators are used to bringing their own, so there was no need for it. I agree, he is usually running on Aloha Standard time, but we all put up with it in exchange for his experience as a Captain in Moanualua Bay. Also his COI is posted in the v-berth hatch entry and states he can hold up to 21 total people (19 passengers) if needed. The Nori Z is one of the few that will take you to any site the passengers want to go, even if it is farther and unscheduled. Nobody seems to defend the captains here. 1 bad dive, even as terrible as yours turned out, should not make you never go back again. Switch DM's and try it again, I hope you will be surprised.

Lots of people posting in favor of Capt Joe. COI is one thing, 12 and 2 for life jackets is another. We were way over that.....OK, I'll give him another shot. Does he allow divers without a dive shop? Id go a lot more that way.
