Yes, remoras are indiscriminate -- when we were in the Red Sea, we had one attach itself to somebody's tank, and stay there for quite a long time!

Scooters are NOT about being irresponsible and dive bombing the photographers. I wish I knew where this sentiment came from---the "horse's mouth, so to speak :D...I would love to discuss this further.
It certainly didn't come from me, I used to own two Dacor Seasprints that were great for shooting videos mounted directly on the DPV.

I would love to have these toys back in my arsenal of dive equipment.

I only sold them because I thought that when Dacor went under that there would be no one to service them.

Not sure what the remoras were doing side-by-side on the sand. But given the number of manatees and big stingrays around I'm not surprised you saw them, sharks or not. They like to attach themselves to all types of big fish and marine mammals. Even divers. I had one try to attach itself to my head once on a safety stop. After a split second of sheer panic I had to endure three minutes of gross out while it continued to circle me. :yuck:

Oh, you should be so lucky to have a remora like you!

These were shark suckers not remoras. I have seen both there. These were fairly large too. Shark suckers are very unique looking. They actually attach with the top of their head.

It could have been a mating ritual, but I did not want to make that unscientific observation.

Very interesting to watch and they let me get quite close.

Does anyone have photos of both that I can see? I thought they were the same fish - just two different names. I'll be up there Sat ... Maybe I'll get "lucky" again.

I will be in the area Saturday 1/15 and Monday 1/17. I've never been to BHB, but would love to check it out. Is there anyone I can tag along with either of these days?

Thinking about heading down on Sunday (1/16) but I see the only tide that'll work for me is the low at 11:20am. Can someone confirm I'm reading that correct? Any disadvantages to diving low v. High?

The main disadvantage is that at low tide there is terrible viz...all the tannins from the river and canals move out and past the bridge. You might get a few people together and find one of the dive boats to do a night dive for you very inexpensively--compared to a reef dive.

There will be someone or a group of someone's to go with. Park over around the playground or a little west and ask!! Maybe show up 2 or 2 1/2 hours before hi tide.
Sat hi tide 4:16pm
Mon hi tides dark both ends of the day either 6:07am or 6:10pm looks like Saturday is the day......................Check with Force E on Blue Heron Blvd re nite dives--they may be sponsoring a free shore dive or they may know of a boat doing a nite dive.

FYI: The following is posted on the Facebook page for the Blue Heron Bridge...

Free night dive at he Blue Heron Bridge on Wednesday Jan 19th. Meet at the Force-E store, 155 E. Blue Heron Blvd. Riviera Beach Florida at 6 to 6:30. We are only a block from the bridge.
Members will receive free air fill and 10% discount on rental equipment. Parking at the store and bridge is free.
Site plans will be passed out to all who attend.
All participants must come to the store first to get the site plans and sign a liability Release.
The Blue Heron Bridge is a world class dive.
Google "Blue Heron Bridge" or "Phil Foster Park".
This is a very easy dive and shallow. The dive must be done between an hour before and an hour after High Tide.
Be there or be dry .
