this spot seems so popular to all you locals. i will be down in Boca Raton for the next two weeks.. how do i get there? and whats so good about this dive spot?

this SB thread and the following link will provide you with all the information you'll need regarding why the spot is enjoyable. I have never seen flying gurnards, batfish, seahorses, sharptailed eels, manatees, cow nosed rays, bull nose rays, nudis on ocean charters but see them at this site often. I've also seem more spotted eagle rays here than anywhere else

note that the tide calculator is wrong on the wade's page link: go directly to the NOAA site for tide info

Tide Tables

Direction from Boca: I-95 north, east on Blue Heron Bridge Blvd, go over main bridge span over intracoastal waterway and turn left into Phil Foster Park.

Deb- Indeed we all look alike underwater - very funny. Actually I might dive the east too, tomorrow.

We don't look quite alike uw...some of us have bigger dive knives! See pic.. with sword I found under BHB!! Makes a great California dive knife. lol We have it in the garage soaking in oil trying to unrust it. :blinking:

I am having some server issues with my website, and have been unable to access it to upload my pictures. Found a way around the problem, so was finally able to upload them..

HE's BAAAAACK! And better than ever. Of course I love this photo best & that 1st shrimp in your other post I don't think I have seen before. I guess you were on the west area as I was diving east .nd didn't see you.
To those new to Scubaboards BHB thread Scott is the member who started this one.

Thanks. Yes Deb, I was diving west. I had some friends in from out of town that had been wanting to try the bridge. I thought it would be easier to start them on the west.

Was talking to Judy on Saturday, and they will probably be there again on Thursday. If so I will be there as well.

I found the Squat Urchin Shrimp early on in the dive. It was real cooperative in posing for me. I didn't see the 2nd one until it crawled across the one I was shooting.

It feels good to be back at the bridge. :D

Deb,

Are you talking about this shrimp? I found this guy right after I got in on Friday poking out from under some wreckage. With some encouragement he poped out where I could shoot him.

Just did a little ID research. I am pretty sure this is a Spotted Cleaner Shrimp Periclimnes yucatanicus. It threw me because I have never seen this color variation before.

I stayed with a couple of subjects on Saturday. I dove with no strobes and was attempting some new settings.
