then it would be "pink tape", not "blue tape".... (and the H crowd would be lost....)

They made a setup in Pink.

You can use any color of tape you want. If you want pink, go buy pink masking tape. Folks use blue, because it available anywhere, and I mean anywhere. I have seen it grocery stores, and gas station. Also the blue masking tape looks better than the off white masking tape.

If you leave blue painters tape on your cylinders in the hot trunk of a car for a month, the residue comes off with the tape. If you use purple, the tape will just come off, it's about as sticky as a post-it note. Off-white, once it cures, about 24 hours in the sun, about a week in the shade, never comes off until you soak it liberally with WD40, not so good on O2 cylinders.

That's why you use blue tape.
