Its pretty much impossible to get the shaft and whips in, unless it's a very sparse whip, and even then the wires get bent,
Yeah, HP 3500 and 1/2” tapered, pretty damn hard to get tools in there. I was thinking regular 3/4”

Another thing while I’m here.
The best way I found to clean aluminum tanks is with a 2:1 solution of alumaprep33 which is an acid. It will dissolve all the white rust /corrosion and stop at solid aluminum. I put up to a gallon of solution inside with a plug then slosh it around for a while. After that rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose up inside the tank upside down. Dry it and look inside. It should be bright and clean.
