Anybody had bad experiences with tanks? Any particular brands to avoid any sugegstions for good ones?

I like my PST E8-130s. Lots of volume (once gave me 47 minutes at 100' including descent), not too heavy. Still shiny after 4 dives. If i was doubling i would seriously consider the E7-120s though.

I still have my trusty catalina AL80s too.

I guess AL 80’s are pretty standard and most of the shops are selling them. I know when you go for more than 100 volume you're flyyyyying...

Whats the average price difference between aluminium tanks and steel tanks???
After reading some of the links it sounds like steel is the way to go, mostly for durability and bouyancy.
What do you guys find better?

I dive a PST LP 80 and sometimes an older AL80 (Catalina I think).

The steel is my favorite of the two: I can mount it a little lower on my wing, and knock a few pounds off the weight belt without getting that "light" feeling toward the end of a dive as I do with the AL80. In addition, the AL80 is just an inch or two longer, which, for anyone who's familiar with my stature or lack thereof, can make quite a bit of difference........

The difference in price is high. If for an AL-80 you pay anywhere from $210 - $240 for a pressure steel tank you'll go almost double. For 130 cu.ft you'll pay $470... + tax

StingRob- Are those prices $C or $US? Sounds like $C at least for the aluminium.
