Canadian$$...

drbill:
StingRob- Are those prices $C or $US? Sounds like $C at least for the aluminium.

The difference in price is high. If for an AL-80 you pay anywhere from $210 - $240

I bought my AL80 for $125 new.

they both sound like canadian prices.

I was tired of the AL80s balance problems, plus wanted more air (I am a bit of an air hog). I bought 4 E7 100's for me (2 for air and 2 for EANx) and 2 E7 80's for my teenage son. I ordered them from Fill Express in Florida for $324 & $200 USD. Best money I spent on diving yet. Now if I could get more than a 3200 PSI fill from my LDS it would be perfect. The only aluminum tanks I have now are my 19 & 30 ponies.

I'm just diving singles. I don't really have a need for doubles at this time... not interested in caves, or going any deeper into wrecks than a 30 ft3 pony can handle. That may change if I decide to get a BP/wings, but for now... no. BTW- Two E7 100s are just negative enough when full that I would want to be diving dry, and have a BC (or wings) for back-up lift... IMHO.

I prefer diving steel 120's (or above) to Al. I get two good (60+ min to max depth of 85-100') dives out of a 120. This means I get two good dives for the price of one air fill. With the amount of diving I do a year (~300-350 dives), that means 150-175 fewer fills @ $4 per fill. EASILY pays for the cost of the larger steel tank!

You need to go for big steel they are worth the money.
If you can fill your self-it is better......no hot fills
