Anybody in here live in the Tampa Bay area? I'm new to diving and am looking for a buddy or 5... My only friend who dives lives in GA so we can only dive together a few times a year. I'm getting a little sick of always being at the mercy of dive charters all the time.

I'm not into any specialty or difficult dives yet, I just want to log some nice easy dives for awhile until I get more comfortable and then the real fun can begin!

Oceandvr & Wstein, not sure where, but a few of us are diving this weekend. If you would like to join us, PM me.

Hey you, aren't you supposed to be pretending to work

I'd like a Tampa forum too!

Well I saw the weather forcast for wind direction, and the forcast calls for wind from SW. This is not real god for Vis @ Venice(Is best if easterly wind(Blowing from onshore out to sea)
Also, Venice Vis conditions tend to degrade throughout the day
so early dives are often best.
You guys might want to consider a contingient site
and save Venice for better conditions
Vis at Sugar Barge in Bradenton is same as Venice for weather conditions

Paradise Springs is on my list of places to dive. I was toying with the idea of hitting that site in April. If you haven't gone by then let me know, I'll do it.
Maybe we could leave the Megadive at Ginne Springs early on Sunday and hit that one Sunday afternoon on the way back to town.
PS can't say as i've seen GDI around much of anywhere "Except Cave Country"
Gainsville area. Have seen him and his truck many times up there He'll probably stop by to visit the MegaDive.

Now they are calling for a south wind at 5 to 10. Improving.

Yeah I saw that this afternoon.
Water temps look to be around 70 or so in Venice
& Maybe alittle warmer close to shore.

What are you guys wearing. my shop said everyone was wearing farmer johns. So a 6 @ the core?

Those are pretty close to Fla Spring temps so
(I dove New Years Eve 2006 At Weekee Watchee Spring
in my 2m and air temps were around 45-50 that night)
If I were going you might see me in a 2m shorty or my 3m long
Or both, just depending on how I felt(and how much hassle I wanted to go through)
