I will be making my first trip to Roatan next week, it will also be my first trip on Taca. Does anyone know if Taca is strict on enforcing the 22 lbs weight limit on the carry ons?

Occasionally, sporadically and capriciously.

Just smile and don't worry too much about it.

They are more concerned about quantity of cabin baggage.... sometimes.

What on earth do you want to drag on board that weighs more than 22 pounds?

I am spoiled to 40 lbs carry ons ! LOL Reg, BC, mask, camera, change of clothes (just in case my luggage gets lost) I need a new carry on suitcase. It weights 8 lbs before I even put anything in it.

Heck, My camera bag alone weighs more than that and that doesn't include the housings or strobes. Now I did have TSA lighten it up a few times when they one time took a couple new pliers that exceeded the tool length of 7 inches by about half an inch. I tried to explain they were for breaking crab claws as the normal crackers are not strong enough but he would not go for it ( true story ) YET, they let me carry on my monopod witch certainly could be used as a baton bbut thats OK.
Then on another they saved me a pound or so when they took my big jar of peanut butter for emergencies.

I fly delta these days but when i flew TACA I never had an issue but it was always the direct Miami flight, I imagine they may be more prone to weight and size issues if your flying to the mainland and then switching to a smaller plane

Several times when I flew out of LAX to El Salvador en route to Roatan, a TACA gate agent walked around looking at carryons and made some of the passengers check their larger bags. I would be prepared in case that happens and be happy if it doesn't. If they do gate check your bag, make sure it is checked ultimately to RTB.

Are you flying from Texas into Roatan or San Pedro Sula?

Nope, TejasDiver said in another thread that she was going down June 19th.

I am back! I love Roatan !! OMG, why did I wait so long to go ??? I flew from Houston into Roatan, they did weigh my carry on's, let me slide with about 26 lbs. I also carried my camera and backpack with no probs!
