Dive-aholic:
Where are the bands in relation to any seals? Do they look irritated or just puffy? Itchy?

OE2X, take a camera next time, snap a photo and post it on this thread.

On the left (wrist with gasket) the seal was between the hand and the puffy band. On the right wrist (no gasket) the puffy band was in the same place.

There is no redness, pain or itchness associated - just puffy.

I haven't changed anything as far as my undergarmet is concerned.

Ask your GP, allways the best way.

I brought it to my GP's attention a few weeks ago. He didn't have a clue. He did advise that I cut down on the amount of sodium I eat, but was mystified by the fact that it only happens while diving.

Why dont you dive naked, then see what else puffs up... :eyebrow:

Try diving on air. You may be allergic to the voodoo gas.

(wanted to help, but I'm baffled, too)

I think Pug's figured it out! :D

Okay, I'm still baffled.

It sounds like you might have something that is constricting your blood vessels distal to the puffiness - gloves maybe?

Your dives last less than an hour so it would make sense that the puffiness is only 1-2 inches. The 12-24 hour duration afterwards is just the time it takes your body to reabsorb the 3rd spaced fluid, if this is what it is.

I'd still stop the Aleve for awhile just to test the theory. But I don't think it's that because your hands should be swelling too. Unless you do have something that constricting the blood flow and it's a combination of that and the Aleve.

If you get a photo that would be great. And if you ever figure this out, let us know!

You may have discovered a new ailment - CPD - but since Pug named it we'll have to call it diverpugulitis :D

what about compasses and computers? Do you wear 'em on your wrists? Are they too tight?

Interesting point. Left wrist has a bungied (2 strands) SK70. Right wrist has a Uwatec computer. On the computer the band is elasticized and I don't believe that it is too tight.

The other thing is that I've been diving this way for well over a year now. Last year I had in excess of 200 dives. In other words, things haven't changed recently.
