Will the adjustment knob in the negative position take care of a reg freeflowing? In a freeflow situation on primary could you adjust the knob to a negative position to stop (besides possible placing thumb over mouthpiece) or at that point is it too late?

Maybe a dumb question but Im new.

Sorry, ment that as a reply to the Apeks question below and accidentally started a new thread. Question concerns Apeks reg's and potential freeflow at depth. Is there options or strictly abort.

sorry.

In my experience its already too late..... luckily both of my ff were in less than 30'. Anyone else have an experience?

When I tried my new Apeks ATX-40 backup for the first time last week I got a freeflow on the surface when I entered the water. It was completely my fault because I left the Venturi lever all the way to the (+) setting. When I turned it back to the (-) setting the freeflow stopped. By the time I got it to stop I had already lost 500psi of air and the freeflow only lasted a matter of seconds. At depth if that happened that would mean aborting the dive for sure because your tank would be drained in no time.

GP, I leave the lever in the (+) position during dives, do you leave it in the negative position? I've tried it in negative, just restricts breathing a bit, but it does stop FreeFlows. Will it stop a free flow under water. If it begins to FF in the positive position can i turn it to negative to stop. I haven't tried it yet, but i will, just didn't know from experience if you have.
