My friends and I are planning to dive in Malapascua Island, Philippines to see some beautiful Thresher Sharks.

Have any of you swam with sharks during your dives? Or maybe some of you have been to Malapascua Island already? Please do share your experiences in this thread!

I have dived with more than 10 different species including tigers.
Never felt threatened but always took some basic precautions (such as always having the shark in front of my eyes).

No It's not rare. Well known for it at that place. I am diving with Tigers and White and Black Tips evreyday in Maldives atm.

About to dive at Tiger Zoo in 30 mins. It's fun there too.

I am just back from Moalboal and Malapascua. Have dived with sharks, no swimming.
It was really great.
We have done:
-Whaleshark diving in Oslob. You can also go snorkling, but with diving you have no hurries and get time enough
-Diving to see the treshersharks on Malapascua
-They went after the treshers to a very boring sandy divesite where you had a chance to see tigers, but in reality there are almost never tigers.
-We saw whitetips on Gato Island
-And we saw blacktips while snorkling from the beach.
-Further we have seen mating nudies, mating mandarin fish and a lot of small stuff

But you have to be a diver to see the treshers. Also you need to be a diver to see the mandarin fish.
For the whalesharks in Oslob or the blacktips you can just go snorkling (Oslob is nice, they really take care of the whalesharks, but for snorkling it is very very very busy and you are time limited to only 30 minutes).

These are the blacktips from the beach, not a really good picture, you see them snorkling, but it is impossible to get good pictures then. The sharks swim away and swim all around. But there were quite a lot then.
