I have had my Suunto Mosquito Dive Computer for about 2 years. I ordered Battery Kit from Suunto via Underseas Scuba Center, Inc 630-833-8383 for $13.00 each. It includes a new cover with new 0 ring, new battery, plus a flat brass object that is round. From the center around a small round, are 3 triangles extending out. Between these are 2 bars extending out between each triangle. I was told to place this on top of the battery holder with the battery placed on top of it.

Is this correct? My Mosquito did not have on of these flat brass objects in it.

Regarding the battery kit widget... I was instructed to place the awfully goofy looking disc in before the new battery. The explanation was that newer batteries are ever so much thinner and the widget ensures uninterrupted contact. Then again, my LDS has a record (actually documented in detail by others on this board) of making things up.

Regarding the surprise deco mode... Has anyone asked Suunto about this behavior? I have just under a hundred dives on mine and have only witnessed it twice - on consecutive days, but not consecutive dives. It happens so fast, I could have easily missed it before. I think it was the same both times - a three second flash of a four minute obligation with a ceiling of ten feet replaced with a normal safety stop count down as I approached 15 fsw. I am interested to know if anyone has discovered that this is behavior NOT by design.

I don't know what causes the mandatory stop to appear, but if you have a 1 minute or less deco obligation at 10ft, the ascent time from 20ft or so will show as 4 minutes since "ascent time" includes a 3 minute safety stop on top of the mandatory stop time.

Last year it downloaded ok, but after returning from Co Co View Dive Resort last Saturday December 8, 2007 this is what happens.

I cannot get my Suunto Mosquito to transfer my dive data into my Dive Manager software.

1. I have transfered data successfully in the past
2. I returned from a dive trip
3. Opened Dive Master 1.4
4. Ran test and found connection on COM2
5. Connected cable to Mosquito in transfer mode
6. Tried to transfer and immediately got "timed out" error window message
7. Ran test again and got message that no COM ports were found
8. Uninstalled Dive Master 1.4
9. Ininstalled Dive Master 1.6
10. Same problem over and over

Any suggestions?
