Hi @Amsterdam2001

I ran a first clean dive on air using 40/85 on my Shearwater Teric NDL planner:

Your 18 min at 25 m looks to be close to what I found. Perhaps you can run your planner over the full range of depths and see how it compares to this table. Let us know how this works out.

Without knowing what Suunto computer your guide was diving and how it was set, it is difficult to compare your NDL to his. @Belzelbub made some important points. Suunto computers run a couple of versions of RGBM, one can be set to run quite liberally and the other is generally reasonably liberal on a first clean dive before becoming more conservative on repetitive dives. In addition, some Suunto computers now run Buhlmann.
Thanks for replying. This is wat I get. Somehow I always get 2 minutes less then all tables I compare it to.

40/85 on air:

15 m 68 min
18 m 42 min
21 m 28 min
24 m 20 min
27 m 15 min
30 m 12 min
33 m 9 min
36 m 8 min
39 m 7 min

Don’t try to compare it to the tables. The algorithm in the DC is different. In the real world, the DC algorithm will give you longer bottom times as it will credit time spent above max depth.

If you want to compare the algorithm with a planning tool, you’ll have to download one. There are several apps that use Buhlmann that you can use. If you set the same GFs, you’ll be able to get a feel for the NDL that you are likely to see on a dive.

For the record, I use a Shearwater Perdix as my primary, and a Garmin Descent MK2s as a backup. I have both set to the same GFs and find that during a dive they are very close in NDL and SurfGF.

Not sure why your NDLs are a little lower than mine. I did not check the barometric pressure when I ran my Teric, the pressure could have been on the higher side, potentially resulting in slightly longer NDLs. If you are at altitude or lower barometric pressure, your NDLs could be a little shorter.

Other than that, seems like your NDLs should be the same. If you are unhappy with the 2 min difference, you can ask Garmin. You can always increase your GF high by preset or custom.
