I have both the Fenix 8 and the Mk3i; the result of a failed attempt to get "one watch for everyday everything". This was quickly abandoned since both have minor differences but which for me are big deals. Have dived with both so far. For reference my everyday watch has been the Fenix 3 for about 10yrs and my pervious dive computer was the Mares Sirus with transmitter.

Fenix 8: Very happy with this as an everyday watch for two main reasons that are not options on the Decent Mk3i: 1) Solar MIP display and 2) the Voice Command. I wanted MIPs because I'm not a fan of my smart watch looking like a phone screen and like the extreme battery life and more subdued display of the MIPs. The voice command is something I use all the time to set timers etc. The Fenix is also lightly less thick than the MK3i and the colors are neutral.

MK3i: The main reason I went with this is because the new AMOLED display is awesome for underwater and way brighter than my Sirus and unlike the Fenix 8 it goes below 40M and has the Air Integration which has become a must for any new dive computer I get.

Big investment but having both is nice since I now have a backup on the same platform and same app. When I go diving I put on my MK3i for the whole trip, take the band off my Fenix and carry it just as a backup dive computer.

Pro tip - Most insurance companies will give a significant discount on Garmin devices if you log into your insurance and look for offers you can find it; My health insurance gave me 20% on up to two devices per year for the Mk3i with the titanium band and the Transmitter that was 460 dollars off and they were also running a 200 dollar sale at the time (three months ago).
