FIXXERVI6:
I use a Nitek 3 because the price was right and it has the functions I need, it doesn't get me chicks, I use my looks and awsome personality to do that for me.

D9, nice, sure buy it if your rich, otherwise, don't waste the money, VR3 is next on my list, a lot more bang for what I need it to do and cheaper than the D9, and VR3's WILL get chicks that matter :-)

"Hey sweetie is that a VR3"

"why yes it is"

"oh your so hot take me home now!"

yea, it could happen

To be honest, I really don't care if the VR3 gets women (which it won't) :) . It is worth it for what I want to do as I plan to go to Closed Circuit in a couple of years. It is one of the few computers currently on the market that can deal with that.

VR3 has games to play and books to read...:D :D ...Underwater no less...:D

I think your best bet would be to go with the D6....I just wanted to throw in my two cents when it come's out here on Okinawa I'm going to buy one...

D6 vs D9 so much different 2 gases with no wireless transmission..;)

Better yet, get a stinger or a Vyper much much cheaper and will be equally cool when you show up at the local bar (the chick factor). I used to dive with a stinger and a SPG - works etremely well and keeps your brain where it needs to be - on the diving.

am now tossing up about an upgrade as I plan to go technical in a couple of years. Either VR3 or SmartTec.

cheers
Mike

I am a newbie to dive computers.

how can it work without a hose attached to it? How can it tell how much air u have consumed?

Check the SPG!!!

I have the Aeris elite w/transmitter, compass and retractor for about 700 bucks....It was cool for about 5 dives.

I thought I would be able to streamline myself a little only to figure out I still should a backup analog gauge. The how much air you have left at this certain depth function was neat as well....but really even being a fairly new diver and not a rocket scientist I could figure that out myself.Over the last month I have been with a group where 3 seperate occassions somebodys (2 Sunnto's and Aeris) wireless computer went on the blink for some unknown reasons. None of these dives were below 15 meters and all them happened on the first dive of the day (during or after the dive). Maybe its because were diving near a power plant...NOT.

Girlfriend now wants a wireless cause of all of the original reasons I did. Chain reaction has gotta stop somewhere. My advise, go spend 300-400 on a basic Nitrox computer and the rest on upgrading your regulator or hotel room on the next dive vacation.

There is a wireless transmitter on your first stage, which uses ultrasound (I think) to transmit the tank data. It will remember the start point and calculate your RMV throughout the dive, and use that to calculate remaining air time.

Your right it's about a $700.00 diffrence. No wireless transmission, 2 gases instead of 3 and max depth of 150 meters appose to 190 meters. The D6 has a cool little dive graph though. The more important part here is once again the D6 here on Okinawa is $580.00 and the D9 w/Transmittor is like $1300.00.
