We saw whale sharks today! One on the King Cruiser and a second one on Anemone Reef. Just cruising round and round. Great day.

Good stuff katdiver.

There was a whaleshark almost a week long between Chumporn Pinnacle and Sail Rock at Koh Tao and Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. For some pix check my dive blog PADI, diving and Instructor Development (IDC): Whale shark at Chumporn Pinnacle today!

When will I ever see one? I was on Koh Tao July 15-17 taking the IE. Camille has it all on his blog. One of the other candidates who also passed the IE with me was comparing our first certs a few weeks ago. On OW dive 3, I was able to show my students healthy coral and shrimp with 4-5 vis in Pattaya, while he was able to see a whale shark on OW-3- with his students at one of the Koh Tao dive sites.

Yes, there is a group of 4 hanging around in the Shark Point-Bida area at the moment. Sightings nearly every day.

A week long- that's a big whaleshark!!

Its not fair Arizona....I know of many tour leaders who have been on the Liveaboards for years with 1000's of logged dives and never saw a Whaleshark.

Thanks- I may be out in the Similans for a Feb. liveaboard so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

It happens I had a visiting instructor with 2 of his OW students. So they got to see a whale shark on OW2 on Anemone Reef, not bad going!

Good for the students Kat, but are you saying they did their OW dive # 2 at Anemone Reef?
