Yoda, how's your loc-line set-up working. It looks like you updated it from the original spacer washer set-up. I was looking at Gilligan's $20.00 Inon adaptor and thinking it might work on the Sunpak when mine gets here. I think this thread made them so popular, you can't buy one. Mine's been on B/O almost 3 weeks already and they say maybe another 2. I got so impatient I ordered the Oly FL-20 and Housing that works in TTL off the Oly e-bay auction ($97 for Housing, $106 for flash from Discount Foto Club in NY) I'm thinking of setting up a dual flash with the Sunpak slaving off the TTL.

Larry

Athena has something like your setup. Only the Sunpak uses the Gflash as a ring flash slave.

I got one as a gift from Helix camera, great price - only place that had them in stock a couple of weeks ago.

Can any of you tell me how the Sunpack compares to the SeaLife 960d?

I did branch out at the top with a Y segment but did not change the strobe holder (elbow). Here's the link to the "How To" thread for my first build:

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=129541

I took the set-up on a 3 day run to snorkel with the manatees and 5 dives. The connection between the Sunpak arm and the Loc-line segments took a beating from clumsy snorkelers and rushing between dives. I had trouble with the focus light being too close to the strobe. As I positioned the strobe the focus light would move, then I would reposition the focus light and the strobe would move. The added weight at the end of the arm also put strain on the connection between the Sunpak and Loc-line sections when topside. The rubber washer wore out and the Loc-line section was loose most of the time. It still worked but was pretty annoying.

I have my next revision built but I'm going to give it a couple shake down dives before I post anything.

The Inon adapter may work but it will have to be adapted to the Sunpak because the two strobes attach to the arm differently. I'm happy with the Loc-line elbow assembly I made, it hasn't given me any problems.

You can see the specs on the Sunpak here:

I'm definitely not an expert on strobes or SeaLife products but here are my thoughts. I don't know where you would get a comparison of the SeaLife product line with other strobes, I think most people that use a SeaLife strobe buy it with or for a SeaLife camera. I don't think I've even heard of anyone having a different brand camera and a SeaLife strobe. Maybe they don't work well with other brands, or they're not in the same ballpark. YMMV.
