I was there last month and we rented a car to go around the island. It was a blast. Stop a Coconuts for lunch or drinks, its great 70s music in a open bar at the top of a hill and you can get a table outside overlooking the ocean and coastline. What fun and cost $50.00 for the day car rental.

The Coba and Tulum trips sound good.

Did my advanced open water this weekend and my ears and sinus' were a mess. Will be in Coz this Friday and Doc suggested moving the non-diving activities to the front of trip--due to my problems equalizing and the general mess going on in my head--wait, who said that?

Has anyone heard of semi-pro baseball team on the island? Our two rug rats play and that may be something potentially fun for the 1st part of the journey until Mother Nature and antibiotics/Flonase make we normal again.

Thanks again for all of the input. I'm chompin' at the bit to get down there...

Where's coconuts?

Sure, you can take the ferry to Playa and walk over to the bus terminal, where you can transfer to Xcaret.... BUT.... why not do something different on Cozumel? Contact Intermar Caribe Cozumel and ask to participate in the crocodile tagging program or the turtle egg harvest/release program. Turtle season runs May thru Sept, gestation is about 45 days, so the first of them should be hatching while you are on Island.

Just a thought....

Coconuts is east from town on the main road to the other side. I think its called cross road. Then when you get to the east side, you turn right and its on the left about 5 minutes or less.

Where's coconuts?

From town, head out on the cross island road. That's the one that intersects the first avenue back from the water at the PeMex station. Go east until you hit the beach at Mezcalito's. Stop and have a beer and see if you can hook the ring on the peg. Head south from Mezcalito's, and it's on the left, after Punta Morena and next to a set of sort of rustic concrete condo's. Look for my "Artcars in Cyberspace" Tshirt under the palapa low on the side facing the water.

Where's coconuts?

One of the best days we spent last year, was renting a beat up old VW and driving around the island. We found Coconuts, and every other place on the coast. Rent a cheap car and spend a day going around the Island, you'll see much more than the touristy stops.

We are going again on the 12th, and I can't wait!

I would recommend doing a day of Cenote diving. Do it on your last day of diving, so you should have your bouyancy down, and you also give your gear a little fresh water rinse.:)
