I like the looks of the Teric, and while smaller, it seems more readable than the Suunto DX because of the colors and font choice. Anyone have experience with the Ratio computers? They look like good equipment but not as ubiquitous.

I bought the Oceanic OC1 a couple years ago and although it's a great watch-style dive computer, I found the buttons a big PITA and I had trouble seeing all the small readouts. I just bought (upgraded) to the Perdix AI and WOW!...what a difference!! I can see all the readings clearly and it only has 2 buttons!! The Shearwater desktop and iPhone apps are really easy to use as well. Do yourself a favor and spring for the Perdix AI or even the new TERIC if you like a watch-style dive computer.

I made that joke but feel compelled to post a few words in on behalf of the VTX.
I really do like it!

Others have noted that the battery life is poor(so carry a few spares, they are cheap) and the screen is hard to see in bright sunlight, but I don't have a major problem with that. If you can tolerate those issues you could could pick up a highly functional dive computer for much less than a Perdix. I am not a scuba professional, or someone who needs the top of the line. The VTX is a good value!

The VTX was discontinued last year, 2018. With the introduction of the Pro Plus 4.0, Geo 4.0, Veo 4.0, I wonder if Oceanic is going to come out with a new color screen AI to replace the VTX. Pelagic Pressure Systems is certainly continuing to develop and release new models such as the Aqua Lung i770R. If it ran DSAT, it would possibly make my list

I have a Perdix AI, 2 Terics, and 2 Predators. I think the Teric is the best of the lot. Objectively, the Teric has all the features of the Perdix, plus a better compass. But, it's really down to personal preference.

I have used a Teric, and also like it very very much. The two are very comparable, but since I have a Perdix, I am biased a little. :)
