Read through many posts about grear selections but wanted to get advice for my particular situation. I'll be in shallow 50F (10 C) water for 6-8 hours at a time for multiple days. Would appreciate any underglove suggestions to wear under my Kubi dry gloves and any suggestions on hoods. Am I right to assume people often trim the base of their hood so it fits better on a drysuit? I have a Seaskin nova drysuit with the warm neck.

A Drysuit hood doesn’t have a bib on it. You shouldn’t need to modify a hood to use it. Check out NEO brand. They are the nicest hoods I have used.

For gloves I use a pair of Smartwool liner gloves under Smartwool thermal merino wool gloves with Showa 720s for the dry gloves. Both from REI here:

I alternate between a custom YRVA 8mm hood and a Waterproof H2 5/10mm one. The YRVA has no bib, so may be a better fit for your drysuit. I quite like both, but at times found the Waterproof to lead to a bit more jaw fatigue outside of the water.

I use Fourth Element Xerotherm glove liners in comparable conditions to yours, but I could consider something slightly bulkier, given the 6-8 hours exposure window.

Are there any real differences between the H1 and H2 hood? I know the H1 is older but that's all I could find for differences.

Beauchat 6mm hood and Dakine Storm glove liners for all but the coldest water. For really cold water diving, I switch to the yellow liner gloves that come with the SHOWA 495 gloves. I don't particularly care for the 495 gloves, so instead use the glove liners from the set with my SHOWA 720 gloves.
